Grooming

A look at all things to do with goldendoodle grooming.

Brushing Tips

What is the best way to get knots our of Goldendoodle's hair? Our dog does not like to be brushed, she tries to bite me while doing it. I basically sit/pin her to brush her. I need to get out the mattiness (if that is a word). We do not want to get her shaved because (1) we did that once before and she hated it, almost as if she was embarrassed of the cut (plus she looked like a poodle and we don't like that look because Goldendoodles look so cute with their shaggy hair) and (2)we are going into the winter months and we want her to keep her coat to keep warm.

My Goldendoodle has really long eyelashes--about 2". Is trimming them OK?

Tips on How to Buy Clothes for Your Dog

Lisa Mason's picture

You see dogs dressed up in cute little outfits all the time. Have you ever wondered if you should buy clothes for your dog? Some pets look so comfortable in their little outfits but not every dog is so agreeable. There are some that may not like the idea at all. For this reason, you'll need to make sure clothing for dogs will suit your pet before spending the extra money for a bunch of items that can't be used.

Dog Paw Care

How much do you know about dog paw care? This is something that many people never think about because the footpads are basically the toughest part of your pet's body. They absorb the shock from each step your pet takes to help reduce the pressure that's put on his joints.

Your pet's paws can be seriously injured and they are prone to punctures, abrasions, blisters and burns. They can also get things struck between their toes and their pads can become cracked and dry. For this reason, you should check your pet's pads to make sure they're in good shape.

Tips for Trimming Dogs Nails

Trimming dog's nails is an important part of grooming. If their nails grow too long they begin to get caught on things which can cause injury. The length of time it takes a dog's nails to grow will depend on the type of dog you have and what type of surface he walks on the most. It's a good idea to check your pet's nails once a month to see how long they have grown so you'll know when they need trimmed.

Why Use Hypoallergenic Dog Shampoo

Many dogs have very sensitive skin that needs to be cared for properly. If your dog has sensitive skin, then using a hypoallergenic dog shampoo is recommended. It's important to keep your dog's skin healthy and avoid any allergic reactions that can be caused by harsh shampoos and other grooming products.
