Grooming

A look at all things to do with goldendoodle grooming.

Ear Issues

Just wondering what others might have used for their dogs problem issues with their ears/ ear infections etc.
Are there any natural methods out there people have used with success??

I have heard people say to use Tea Tree Oil diluted with a wet cotton ball. Also using vinegar with water & rubbing alcohol - all 50 /50 .
Also giving Yogurt.
I've been searching the web.. and some also refer to something called Zymox..

Thinking my girl might have an bit of an ear infection again- some redness & warmth.. but also a fair bit of black pastey flakes.

Sping/Summer Grooming

Just wondering how short other owners have trimmed their dogs for the spring/summer?? I've heard no less than 1 1/2 inches??

Abbey's coat is about 5 inches long { I love the look}... but now that she is outside more, loving our wetland in our property and has been swimming... i'm wanting to shorten it up i think... for easier maintanence.

thanks for any feedback.

Winter snow & Mucklucks

Just wondering what methods people use to get all the snow off their fur on coming inside?? I just pick it out of Abbey's paws but the rest of the hair is difficult.

I have also used my one brush which works not bad.

I also have been looking for long/tall Mucklucks... but haven't come across any & am nto sure if they even make them longer than the smaller ones{ just for the feet}

Any other ideas??

thanks
Ria

Coat Care for Goldendoodles

It’s not unexpected for owners of Goldendoodles, Labrodoodles or other designer breeds to have questions about how to care for their dog and not be able to find the answers. There have been many books, articles, websites and more written about the other common breeds but since many of these designer breeds are still knew, there isn’t as much of an information pool for them.

Massage Your Goldendoodle And Reap The Benefits

If you’ve ever been the recipient of a full body massage, you already know how wonderful it feels and how relaxed it can make you. It’s not so far fetched to consider that a massage would be beneficial to our pets as well. Massage can be great therapy for very active or older dogs, as it increases circulation and helps muscles relax, and it can help puppies learn socialization, or the act of being comfortable around people. Massage is also a great way to introduce your dog to touch therapy, which can be very beneficial for those suffering illnesses and senior citizens.

Nail Clipping

Has anyone had any success when it comes to clipping their doodles nails. I found it a little bit tricky because of all the hair on their feet. It makes the actual nails a little hard to see, specialy when they are a lighter color.

I have also found that because of the lively temperment of my dog, it's hard to get him to stay still long enough to actually get a whole paw clipped. He just goes crazy and won't let me anywhere near him. Does anyone have any suggestions or tricks that will make this whole process a little easier to accomplish?
