New mom to Addi

Hello!! We just got a 10 week old Goldendoodle. Her name is Addi, and she is one silly girl! I am totally new to this breed. We also have a Collie mix, and a Purebred German Shepherd. I have 2 questions, are all Goldendoodles puppies crazy (lol), and how many times a day should I feed her? Thank you for your help!!

when will the puppy biting end?

My goldendoodle, Graci is a great dog, aside from the biting. She is 12 weeks old and we know that all puppies nip, but it is getting to be too much. We try to pet her..she nips, we lie next to her and she tries to bite our clothes, hands, hair, etc. We play with her and she nips. We show her a lot of love and attention, but the nipping turns us off. We tried everyone's suggestions: yelp like it hurts; give a strong 'no'; walk away; put her in her crate for 29 seconds so she understands that if she bites play-time stops; etc. We don't know what else to do.

New to this site. Trying to decide which type of kennel is best for a new goldendoodle puppy.

Hi. I am so glad that I found this site. My husband and I will be getting a standard goldendoodle puppy soon, and we can't wait. We are trying to decide on the best type of kennel/crate. I know that the metal wire-type kennels are adjustable which is a big advantage, but the plastic ones seem so much more cozy. I haven't seen any of the plastic ones that come with barriers. Do they exist? I don't want to buy too big of a kennel b/c I know that puppies may go to the back to potty which defeats the purpose. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Adopting our Goldendoodle tomorrow

We're going to pick up our puppy tomorrow. We're getting a male, Mini Goldendoodle and totally surprising our kids. They don't even know we're thinking about a dog, so it will be a pleasant surprise to them. We have three kids, ages 13, 8, and 5. I've never had a dog before, though my wife had one from the time she was about 8. It's a whole new thing in life to have a puppy, I'm sure, but I'm really excited about it. I'll certainly post more later.

Walking Puppy HELP!!!!!

Help!!! I've been trying to teach my pup to walk on the leash with no success. She is constantly jumping up, chewing leash, running ahead, dragging behind, playing tug of war, hanging off my mittens, etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions. I've tried bitter apple on the leash for chewing, I've tried stopping and restarting over and over again (a 5 min walk turned into 20),
Any tips would be appreciated.

P.S. She is a handful but I love her to bits already (she's just under 4 months now).

It’s true – goldendoodle puppies are hard to resist. But sometimes it’s easy to forget that these cuddly little balls of fur grow up to be adult dogs that require a commitment of time, space and money. Doing your research and having an idea of what to expect before you bring home a cuddly goldendoodle puppy is the best way to avoid the heartache of discovering that maybe these puppies grow up to be dogs that don’t mesh with your lifestyle.

Understanding Your Dog’s Body Language

One of the great challenges of first time dog owners is getting to know their puppy’s ways of communication. This lack of understanding can lead to frustrated owners finding new homes for their dogs or, in the worst cases, abandoning them altogether. Brigitte Smith of healthierdogs.com likens ignoring your dog’s attempts at communication to living with someone that speaks another language and never bothering to learn a word of it. Communication should be a two-way street with your dog, so learning dogs body language will help make sure both you and your dog are understood.
