Is your Goldendoodle overweight? This is a common problem that many pet owners don't even realize exist. A good pet owner wants their dog to get plenty to eat but it's so easy to feed them way too much food everyday. This causes them to become obese, which in turn causes many other problems. If your Goldendoodle is overweight the following tips can help you get him back in shape again.
• Consult with your veterinarian to determine how much weight your dog needs to lose in order to be healthy.
• The veterinarian will help you design a good healthy diet for your Goldendoodle. Make sure you stick to the diet plan; your dog's health is at stake.
• Take the time needed to make sure your pet gets the exercise they need. Start out slowly and work up to more vigorous exercises as they get use to it.
• Your Goldendoodle should lose weight gradually in order to stay healthy. Losing too much too fast can cause serious problems for your pet. If you notice them losing too much weight too quickly, contact your veterinarian.
• Keep your pet on his diet after he reaches a healthy weight so he won't gain all the weight back again and you have to start over.
In order for your Goldendoodle to lose weight, they're calorie intake will need to be reduced. You may need to cut down on the amount of food that you're feeding him or you may need to switch to a special weight lose formula that's low in fat and high in nutrients and fiber. It's important that they still get the vitamins and nutrition needed to keep them healthy but they don't need as much food as many pet owners seem to think.
It's also important that you limit the number of treats and snacks that you feed your pet or that you at least search for healthier ones that are low in fat. If you feed your Goldendoodle table scrapes, keep in mind that many of these are filled with empty calories that contribute to their weight problem.
